Been there and done that. Pre CAT 5 ethernet, wrestling with BNC Thin Ethernet and SCSI cabling behind editing consoles. Great fun, wrestling with an octopus. Intermittent faults? I'll find it .... Famous Last Words :confused:
 
When I started in IT at the VA hospital I worked in, we had hard wired terminals and the guy that installed most of it was anything but organized. Little was labeled and he didn't follow a color code. Everything was wired directly to the computer room. What a mess. We wanted to move to terminal servers in the computer room, so we built a distribution panel on the wall and connected it to the terminal servers. Then, we built another panel to handle the wires coming from the terminals so we could jumper them to the server panel. Since the guy I was working with was former telephone, we used telephone 110 blocks for the panels. We had to remove each terminal's connection from the multiplexers in the computer room, test them to determine how they were wired, and where they came from. Then came splicing them to cables coming from the distribution panel (this was under the floor) and finally jumper them to their server. These jumpers were standard telephone 4-wire without a sheath, still a bit messy looking, but at least organized. Sure wish I had some pictures, but picture taking was frowned on...

They do now seem to be in the bug fix/clean up stage. The last snapshot fixed all the chunk loading errors that were causing crashes. It’s still quite laggy, but that might just be the norm now, 1.12 was pretty laggy too.
 
I've been Away for a while but is there a date for new server start yet or still on the wait? And hey guys been a while

No, there is not, unless it's been mentioned in a place I'm not aware of. Fairly certain Steve said server will be back when 1.13 is ready. We're only just entering the pre-release stages for 1.13, so just a little bit longer. I'm don't think they want to start the next map until 1.13 is in full release or a stable pre-release.
 
Yes it's close but not yet. There are release versions for some platforms but not the java version yet. The other issue is it's stability even after release, with all the animated and entity additions and under the hood changes it's anybody's guess how that will work out. A MC stable client is one thing ( and it isn't stable yet), but the server version and all it's complexity is another!
 
So to get back on topic, i think i am going to live in the jungle and build myself a major tree surrounded by a big tree village ...

I have done it once but never finished it, now i will...
