Graphics card help

hey all for me to come play with you lot i built a pc using some of the many parts that ive collected over the years. ive managed to get a quad core AMD. i know graphics cards (to a degree)... but i dont know what is best for minecraft so i thought here would be best place to ask.

The choices are between 1GB GT730 OR AN 1GBR7250.
If there is something better then thats great but only got a 500w cheapy psu soooo power draw may be an issue. any other recommendations would be greatly received. price range is about £30

Im used to building retro machines.... last week i spent 4 hours installing the perfect version of windows 2000 on an athlon Xp machine sooo this is a little new to me

It's hard to say actually, they both have their pros and cons, I think though the GT730 will have the edge, slightly, for MC.

MC is much more CPU and GPU intensive, you can also turn off/down a lot of the GFX settings. Optifine will also help when that becomes available for 1.13, it's not out yet.
 
thankyou, that was the one i was leaning towards. Avril is waiting for optifine and her minimap as well hers ran so much better with optifine.
was getting a solid 30 frames on 1.13 last night using an 1GB R5230 (THE ASUS ONE) as even though its shit its better than the on board graphics so anything would be an improvement
 
GPU boss comparison
Raw stats show the Radeon barely edging out the GeForce - but I was hoping it was the opposite.Given the small performance difference between the two, I echo Steve and recommend the GeForce.
I have favored the GeForce chips since they first came out in '99 - they're an evolution of the 3dfx Voodoo cards, which was the first dedicated graphic card. I loved the Voodoo card so much that I still have it somewhere - just cant bring myself to throw it away.
Every Radeon I've had were finicky, problematic for the games I played, overheated and had crappy software. I've returned or sold every one I bought and got a GeForce instead.

Just my .02 cents...

went with the GT730 due to the cheapy psu as cba to change it just yet. as it didnt need any extra power.

I'd advise not chucking it as they are becoming valuable as people have started building retro builds and wanting the stuff they couldn't afford back in the day.

(i have that many i can and have built a fort out of pc's)
totally an adult me.
 
Retro PCs are back in!? I'm off to the garage to find my fortune! Somewhere there is an early IBM box I used in the 80s .... or maybe I trashed it o_O
