still cant get in, my Xfinity router is not able to accept opendns settings. I'd happily donate some if we can find a ringer server for everyone. I even tried making it step by step to vanilla, got stuck in teleport area. too much to load before I get kicked out again. permanently parked.
You change the DNS on your PC, not the router. That's much easier. plenty of info online how to do that then do a DNS flush and restart 8)

This morning no problems on the main server with 6 logged on. I had to get rid of OpenDNS as it was causing much lag and odd functioning on my PC. Changed to Google DNS and everything is smooth and fast.
yes, I have done everything that was described, hard resets on my router. using computer settings to configure opendns addresses, flushdns, reboot, still not able to get in. I am trying a hunch this morning to try to get in to minecraft with MultiMC, haven't tried that yet. Wish me luck!

I had issues with my PC using OpenDNS, removed it and went to using Google DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) and everything is fine now.

yeah, I changed to those settings, flushed, rebooted, hard booted the router, still not working. just seems like it's taking too dang long to load everything. after like 15 seconds, I start getting a floor underneath me, then about 5 seconds later, IOException
SOLVED!!!! FOR ME, AT LEAST. IT'S ALWAYS THE MAGIC CHECKBOX!
