Mules are now available next to the Nether Portal at Spawn. Grab a fence post and lead to secure him if you'll be shopping for awhile inside a building. They don't wander too far, but they are curious of water. There's some in their bags and in the chest at the stable.​

I'm not asking for payment since there's no restocking on my part; it's just a convenience/service. You can donate to help pay for the cost of hay, but it's not necessary. (The silly trade war the Orange Man has started increased prices for everyone...)

Fine Print: If you somehow kill or lose one, there is a fine of 50 diamonds. I have to pay a fine to PETA and it's a real PITA to get them there.​

How do you get them there? What's the process these days? Mule Train?

I rode them and pulled them behind a boat from my Wilds camp, one at a time. (Pro tip: horses and jungles DO NOT go well together)

Trying to pull a second one on a leash gets too frustrating because they keep coming detached. Same thing happens with just one on the water, but it's less frustrating. Through experience I learned to constantly look back to make sure it was still leashed while boating....more than once I've had to backtrack across the ocean looking for a horse/donkey/mule (there's only one I never found again....).

Nether portals do work - but I built my tunnels too small to accommodate the 2 high 2 wide horse....so there was no choice but to run. I have a super long nether rail - changing it for a horse would be too much hassle.

Oooer, thanks Gwydz, it's a huge effort then. I didn't know nether portals still worked for animals, not that I'm going to try.

Remember the mules can get you around the expanding island more easily!
