I prefer "Kat" too but if we're both on, calling me "other Kat" is just fine by me (and makes me giggle, so win/win). If it continues to be confusing for people, I have actually considered changing my MC name, so that's an option too.

Please don't call me "Kata". The way @MotherShipMC responds to the first half of her name is the way I respond to Kata. I really don't like it :(

That would drive me crazy! As it is when I give my first name, people often misspell it so I've taken to saying "it's <name>, just like the song" (because my name happens to be spelled the same as a song title). It's irritating, but it's not a super common name and people always seem to assume it's the short version of another name, and it isn't.
 
Honest to god, this thread is confusing me even more......I'm atrociously bad at names. After a year at my job it still takes me a second to remember a co-workers name.
I'll never remember full names - I default to 3 letter nicknames. If what I use is annoying please tell me.

FWIW my real name is Art; but Gwyd is just as easy!

Didn't people call you Merlin at one point? Was that because of the wizard tower?
 
I'm awful with names and always have been; I've a reputation in person for just calling everyone Dave in any given social situation. So, don't take it personally if I never manage to remember what you're called, but do tell me if I'm using a moniker you don't like.

As for me, my given name is Darren but Arc works fine, along with any contraction of my name that you'd care to conjure. Not Daz, though. I'm not a laundry powder!

I have a multitude of nicknames, so it can be confusing, lol.

Most commonly I’m known as Nyx.
If you are Avril or Rat, I’m Eon
If you are Ros, I am Red
If you are DSL & Rocky, I’m Peony
If you are SairFecht, I’m Phoney

I love all my nicknames too ❤️ Pretty much call me whatever is easier/you like best, and make sure I know your talking to me, and you are good to go
