Nether Spawn Room

Alrighty! I can start hacking away at the nether as I have time. Unfortunately it's now morning here so I won't have a solid chunk of free time for 14 hours. But I'll see what I can do while the lil lady runs around.

I have some ideas for where I'd like to take the hub. I checked out your station last night Ori! I think it'd be fun to have a rail to each hub just because. I'm sure they'll never be used.

I'll need to play with the design in creative to figure out how best to place the rail and portals.
 
Iry, I plan on putting that rail hub at the North nether hub because it will make for a shorter line to my future base.

I like putting all nether transportation up at the roof so that there is a lower chance of running into my nemesis lava. Just getting there can be a problem, depending on where the portal comes out...
 
Okay, so after taking a look at the natural lay of the Nether, I'm going to have a smaller room up top with the "corrected" portal and follow the stairs down to the lower and much larger level for the rails and other portals. Or the portals can be above with the main portal but I'd still like to keep it cozy.

From what I could gather, we'd want one of these rail systems at every hub, right? Can't hurt. I'll build the one at the main nether hub.

The portal is in the right place, and the right orientation, but the stairs and the tunnel they're in were just thrown in to provide a route up and down, so you can do anything at all with it, tear it all out, re-route it, etc.
 
WW, awesome! One portal makes for an easier build.

Steve, will do! I'm excited to get started tonight. Will probably take me a bit to flush it out. But I'll have the rail system set up and a general layout done this weekend for sure. After that it'll just take a bit of time to farm the various materials I'll need to really greenify.
 
If anyone happens to read this, I could use a little help with some mats for the Nether Spawn room. I think I have nearly everything covered except for dirt and packed ice. I'll need a few double chests of it. I'm going to spend as much time as I can this weekend getting it all together, but anything would help! :D
 
I have some dirt ( aren't I lucky!) not that much but you can have some, where do you want me to put it?

PS - clean comments only please :eek: and I ain't going in the nether, yet Arrrrrr Whimper.
 
I've got a fair bit of dirt and packed ice that came over from the old map. I need to keep a little bit, but will donate the rest when I get on.
 
You guys are all wonderful! I need to throw dirt ALL over the Nether so it'll add up. But thankfully those things are very easy to farm, so please do not donate unless you have too much. :D
 
If anyone gets bored, I'd love some help clearing out the Netherrack. I've been at it for 3 days now and there is still SO MUCH! I'm clearing it out between X -33, to 33, and Z - 33 to 33. Just a big old cube. And from Y -68 to about Y -53. There isn't much below Y -54. I'm off and on a lot because of the kiddo, but I'm happy to repay anyone in diamonds or food or whatever. I have all the mats for fire potions, but not the time to make them currently.

I don't think so... I mean I might when all is said and done. But I still have a lot. I'll probably just hop over to ice spires and grab more when/if I need it.

Everyone! I am so thankful for how helpful people have been. I've never taken on a community project because I don't have much confidence in my building skills. But I had an inspiration for the Nether Spawn and you all made it really easy and fun. <3 I'm still working on it, but the most painful parts are already done and I barely even had to do them. :O
