Tea!

We found a new tea shop to try yesterday! The photo is a Japanese kukicha (also called “stem tea” or “twig tea”) and we also tried matcha for the first time. It was a fun experience and we ended up buying a few teas to take home - a bancha and a sencha from Japan, a puerh from China, and a honey ginger they mixed at the shop. 013A90F3-88FF-4F43-BDA2-DC8973EA8CEB.jpeg

Anyone else have tea stories or pics to share?

I will horrify you with the "Tea" that is available in my office right now. The stuff of tea nightmares. It tastes like drinking plastic so I just stick with the coffee..... But I'll have to share my legit tea when I get home
Please do!

I had to wait til I got home to add a pic of the unbelievably adorable mugs my sister gave me as a birthday gift! The text inside the rim says “Kit-tea Cat”

We like fun mugs! Here are a few of my favorites from our collection.
One on the left was gift from my best friend in high school, still love it.
Middle one is my daughter's. Nuff said.
One on the right my daughter gave to my hubby for Christmas.

Ivan Chai. Known to First Nation Canadians and Americans and exported by the ton all over Europe from Tsarist Russia before Indian tea was "discovered", much of it to UK. Made from the fermented ( some use them just dried - but fermented is much tastier) leaves of Fireweed ( name-USA), Rosebay Willowherb (name - UK etc), Latin - Chamaenerion angustifolium

I love the stuff and have a secret stash as it's a little hard to buy now, but not too difficult to make yourself. It's fruity, herby, musty and also has a mild soporific/calming effect.

Make Ivan Chai!

*Stares at Rosleen intensely*

Tea? Hmm. Does anyone come to mind when I think of tea? I mean, I might have to realllllly think about it. For like, an hour, at minimum.

I swear I remember something about someone being an absolute tea fanatic, building teahouses and tea shops and discussing different teas on Skype and posting amazon links or something.....

Was it my imagination? A fanciful dreamscape? Or maybe.. oh wait yeah, it was that one lady, with that gigantic rose colored coliseum, what was her name, she shot me once---

Oops. Lost it. Guess we'll never know.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM

Resurrecting this as I finally splurged on some goodies from my favorite Japanese online shop. Being stuck at home doesn't mean I can't enjoy some wonderful tea :D

There are four kinds of tea represented here - two types of sencha along with genmaicha and kukicha. They're all green teas, but each kind is processed differently and has a different flavor.
