Shops

My profane outburst was the result of being so frustrated at my inability to properly communicate my concerns that my nose started to spontaneously bleed from high blood pressure. Seriously. Perhaps the market is not my cup of tea. I realize that it's only a game, but if I am gonna stroke out from it, I need a different approach.

Indeed :) What can we do to help? Your product (diamonds) is what most of the rest of us are trying to gain (for whatever reason) by selling other things, so I think you have a different perspective than many of us. What would seem reasonable to you?

I have to say I really like the idea of a diamond shop, I think it's inspired!

The problem is, there's really no way to standardise pricing that I can think of (some folk will always have more of something than someone else). And I'm not sure it really matters. Like I say, if you're getting what you want for a price you're happy with, fill your boots.

I really like the diamond shop as well and it is super helpful when you are just starting out to get a little currency for essentials if you have been unlucky finding diamonds but lucky finding gold. To avoid the pitfall of gold inflation (via farming) you could just offer the exchange of gold ore for diamonds - that's not renewable and must be mined. Of course, that's based on the premise that this shop is more about getting other players started than getting gold for your own use.

I like the market - I don't have to go on trips to the wilds any more - not even for sand.
And I don't like the market - because I don't have to go on trips to the wilds any more - not even for sand.

And the need for building farms - which was the main reason for my playing the game - has diminished greatly.

I think my next project in MC will have to be a vault. A huge vault where items only go one way - in to the vault. And then make it my mission to fill it's almost endless chests with everything. Every single item in the game in at least 10 double chests each. Diamond blocks will probably only need 5 double chests, though...

You could also make pretty things! Work on stuff that creates stories or is funny to see. Wickerton and Forever Dirt are prime examples. There's also that one shop that sells knick knacks.

Heh. My base will eventually have every automatic farm possible in the overworld, starting from the easiest to the most ridiculously expensive (ilmango auto tree farm). Once im at that point im gonna make a megastore, sell everything at a higher price then everyone else so that the only reason someone will buy it is if the other shops run out of stock lol.

You could just.... not buy from the shops????

There's nothing making anyone buy from the shops, and there's nothing that is making anyone sell anything. That's the beauty of Minecraft, you can play it how you want to. Just because the easy way to get an item is there, does not mean you are required to use it. It's a convenience, but not a necessity. You can make your own rules. I usually don't wear a full set of armour because the Mobs are ez mode when you deck yourself out. I only use Mending on a few of my tools and armour so I still have to use resources to repair them.

The only one dictating how you play is you.

Yup what Toonies said. I don't do potions or much mining (yuk), don't build auto-farms, have few diamond tools and limited mending, don't do the nether (shiver), only go to the end for xp, find enchanting bewildering and boring so get it done quick. It's a personal choice to utilise less than the game offers. Does present problems and things take longer, but I prefer it that way.

It' a good life being a Dirt Magnate!

Or you could all have an endless, insatiable, and incorruptible desire to build one particular type of thing that you will never tire of. And then exploit utilize all the shops to their full potential so you can make more of the thing you never tire of.

Trees will rule the Earth!

I like how the guy applying the ice spray looks like it's something he does all day, every day. Is he whistling?

Yeah, the game of minecraft is what you make it. I know. I just hit a minecraft low. I'll be back later...
