Memorial Project

They look really good :)
Typed maps and pictures. Have you found a way to enforce texture packs on the server? A default painting might look weird in this setting.

On a first look I saw 2 typing things:

- Minecraft is spelled with a small "m" on one of the signs about maps - should probably consitently capital.

- in "Explore the Memorial" it seem the "rial" is one block too high?

Realms does not allow it, but I have learned about how to put my own textures into the world file. I could easily replace all the paintings, even if I don't end up using them all. I can just put the same picture in multiple ones.

Tried uploading the texture pack with the paintings here, but says the file is too big. :(

Thanks for the proof reading, I will make those corrections.

:)

My Hubby wrote up stuff for Healthcare Workers Tribute for me, would appreciate some other eyes to look over and let me know what you think. Will put mostly in books, maybe some shorter ones on a sign. Will have books with the web site links in them.

Finally back to working on the memorial. Thanks to Avril's help got several signs for the Tribute to Healthcare Workers area done.

Need to come up with ideas for images on some of the displays:
- Thanking Healthcare Workers
- How Many Have Died?
- Working Together (since I used this image on the big sign, would like something different here).
Let me know if you have any ideas :)

Worked on updating dots on memorial today. Back when I designed the layout of the dots, I could not imagine ever needing more than the 360,000 deaths that could be represented by them. Working on designing a bigger "dot" that represents 10,000 deaths.

Also been working on artwork for the display talking about how doctors and scientists all over the world have worked together to fight the virus and develop vaccines. Pretty happy with what I have come up with:

Asking for some proof reading of signs on the memorial. Want to take down plots I put up all over the place for signs, but would like some people to look them over first. Looking for grammar/spelling errors, but also that they just make sense.

If you want to help out with this, or just check out the memorial, let me know and I will whitelist you to my realm.

I will go look at signs Tig

Tig ... I am so sorry ... I left clicked instead of right clicked and destroyed one tile/map on the Light of a thousand Souls map at spawn ... I tried to fix it but quicly realized I don't know how. After my blunder I spent about an hour reading as you asked. In the Memorial Guide Book on pages 8 & 9 is the word "Platform" capitalized because it is part of the I.D to areas, for example North West Platform? First paragraph on page 4 of the "How to make a map" book reads awkwardly to me, it gets the message across but doesn't flow. I will come back soon and continue.

Yes, Platform is capitalized on purpose.

for the maps, does this make more sense:

"In the memorial, each country is assigned one of these grid areas. We refer to them as "plots."

"Maps can be locked so that the map does not change, which allows the same plot to be used more than once. The signs for the memorial were created this way.

"For the memorial we wanted to be able to update the country plots over time to reflect the numbers of lives lost in each country. This is one of the reasons each country has it's own permanent plot."

I am relieved that the map is an easy fix ^_^ ... I think the new wording is easier for people who have no experience with map art.

Thank you so much for your input, that is exactly what I was looking for. It is hard for me, being so familiar with the maps, to see when it does not explain well enough. :)

This is truly amazing, beautiful, and heartbreaking. Thank you for starting this, and to everyone who has worked on it.

Created this drawing of Dr. Li, but was having a weird static problem with it in game. Finally last week I figured out that if I lowered the resolution of the picture, it took care of the problem! One piece of artwork that my Ray made that needs to be re-done (but is done digitally, so should not take long) and the artwork for the Heathcare Tribute area is done!

With getting the problem with the artwork sorted out last week, I turned to working on a web page for the Memorial this week. Still needs a lot of work, but hoping to have it to a point where I am ready to share with everyone on Hangout very soon. From the web site you will be able to download your own copy of the world file. This will allow you to see the custom paintings for the Healthcare Tribute in game, which realms does not let me do.

The Memorial will not be finished when I first share it with you. I have created platforms above the country maps to create the signs for the memorial on. I would ask that you explore the world, read the signs and books, and let me know about any errors you see so they can be corrected before I lock the maps and take down the platforms.

I am also making a list of last minute things that will need to be done, such as updating signs for all the countries. So if you want to help and are not yet white listed to my realms account, let me know and I will add you.

Also, does anyone know how to set what mode players are in for a downloaded map and/or how to set it so players cannot break items in adventure mode? With so many maps and paintings in the memorial, it would be great if people could not accidentally break things.
